Tech-Air® 3: Airbag Protection for Motorcyclists

The Tech-Air® 3 protection system is designed to fit easily over the protective motorcycle jacket and can be worn over or under it. The system is lightweight and easily foldable, providing effective protection for the upper body, covering the rider's entire chest and back.

The system is completely self-contained and does not require any external connections or sensors on the bike to operate. Tech-Air® 3 has 6 integrated sensors (3 accelerometers, 3 gyroscopes or 1 triaxial gyroscope and 1 triaxial accelerometer) for improved crash tracking in different riding situations.

The system is automatically activated by a magnetic zipper closure, requiring no manual intervention. The ECU and electronics are located in a waterproof housing to ensure proven performance in wet weather conditions.

The packable design of the Tech-Air® 3 allows it to be easily stored in a backpack or under the seat of a bicycle when not in use. The magnetic zipper closure is designed to provide an easy user experience and to ensure maximum security.

The LED display on the front chest continuously indicates the operational status of the airbag, with a tactile warning that vibrates to confirm system activation and alert the rider when the battery is running low. The built-in lithium-ion battery is certified to last 40 hours, with a recharge time of about 4 hours.

The Tech-Air® 3 uses the Tech-Air® 5 road algorithm that provides maximum protection in a variety of riding conditions, even when the bike is stationary. You can update the system's firmware via the Tech-Air® app, which also allows you to check system status, battery life and riding data.

The Tech-Air® 3 airbag system has an integrated back protector pocket on the back to provide additional protection for the rider's back. Stretch panels are strategically placed on either side of the abdomen to accommodate airbag expansion in the event of a crash.

The argon gas canister that provides the inflation gas for airbag deployment is housed in an ergonomic case on the right side of the rider's lower back. The canister housing, electronic wiring and airbag are easily removable and can be replaced by ANY Alpinestars dealer.

Finally, the vest is washable and can be easily maintained for maximum hygiene and cleanliness.

The frame of Alpinestars' Tech-Air® 3 Airbag system is constructed with a water-resistant treatment to ensure effective protection in any season. The Stella version, in particular, is ergonomically designed to fit the female figure perfectly.

This "over the jacket" safety system was created for commuters and younger riders, offering effective upper body protection, covering the rider's entire chest and back.

The main frame and electronic control unit of Tech-Air® 3 are waterproof, ensuring optimal performance in all weather conditions. This system is slim and self-contained, so it can also be worn under a motorcycle jacket, including any Alpinestars-compatible leather or textile jacket, as long as there is sufficient room for airbag expansion.

Alpinestars' crash detection activation algorithm was developed and refined with millions of miles of riding data and thousands of crashes, allowing the system to accurately assess when to deploy the airbag before an impact. In the event of a lowside or highside crash, the system will deploy the protective airbag in milliseconds, depending on the size of the airbag.

Tech-Air®'s electronic control unit seal protection ensures all-weather performance and is certified to operate between -20 ⁰C and +40⁰C. The Argon inflator cartridge is CE ISO26263 certified, confirming compliance with the safety standard and certifying that the cartridges can be safely handled and maintained.

The Tech-Air® 3 system is designed to be worn as an "over the jacket" solution. Upon inflation, the system provides protective coverage to the rider's chest and back for effective upper body protection.

The protection from the airbag is CE Category II certified according to the European Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Regulation 425/2017/EEC, according to the relevant part of the airbag certification standard EN1621-4:2013, which guarantees impact protection performance of no less than five seconds after deployment.

In addition, the product is in compliance with European law, being marked with the CE mark, a necessary requirement for the marketing of this type of safety device.
